Bestue de Otto Bestue 2004 Finca Rableros, Somotano, SpainA blend of 80% tempranillo and 20% cabernet sauvignon. Smooth and smoky, with flavors of raspberry, spice, dark chocolate, and vanilla bean. Care 2006 Tinto, Carinena, SpainThis red blend is one third syrah, one third tempranillo, and one third garnacha. Deep scarlet color goes hand and hand with a big berry nose. The palate is filled with flavors of pencil lead, black cherry skins, smoke, black berries, clove, and blueberries. An intense and extracted wine, the finish hints at a little white truffle-terroir. Castano 2006 Monastrell, Yecla, SpainExtracted and concentrated this Spanish mourvedre offers flavors of plum, cream, black cherry skins, red raspberries brambles, licorice, black tea, and raspberry liqueur. Roasted cherries and smokiness fill in the finish. Lots of grip to back up the intense fruit flavors. An inexpensive wine that begs for a decanter. Cruz de Piedra 2006 Garnacha Joven, Calatayud, SpainThis garnacha saw no oak. It is an example of for perfect fruit.
